About Nanako’s Japanese Lessons
Beginner Japanese Lessons
If you’ve never spoken Japanese before, these are the lessons for you.
You might want to have a survival Japanese class to prepare you for your trip to Japan.
Or perhaps you’d like to start from the beginning and learn Japanese step by step with the plan to become proficient.
You could start from the very beginning and then move onto other survival Japanese words if you wish.
Intermediate Japanese Lessons
Nanako will find your pronunciation problems and help correct them using text reading and other techniques. She’ll also assist you with your Japanese grammar.
In successive lessons, as well as helping you improve your pronunciation, Nanako can also include materials on idioms, slang, and other areas of spoken Japanese that you may not be aware of.
Nanako can also help you prepare for the JLPT exam.
Advanced Japanese Lessons
Conversational Japanese lessons where you and Nanako discuss a wide range of topics and Nanako corrects your Japanese as you speak. You can bring along a list of questions, or Nanako can bring along various newspaper articles to discuss.
Or, if you wish to focus more on the writing and grammar of the Japanese language, Nanako would be happy to do that too. Much of her advanced materials are written in Japanese so if your Japanese reading skills are quite high, this is the lesson for you.

All of Nanako’s Japanese lessons can be taken by Skype. Skype lessons are more convenient as you can do the lessons from your home.
Nanako can also email you pdfs, depending on the lesson.
Nanako uses a high quality webcam and has an NBN internet connection. But if you’re uncomfortable using a cam, Nanako is happy to call you using the voice-only option, if you wish.
If you have a good internet connection and a webcam (or you can use your smartphone with a good signal) Skype lessons will enable you to improve your Japanese language skills more conveniently.

Nanako also teaches at various cafes in this area of the Melbourne CBD. The cost for a one to one, in-person lesson at a cafe in Melbourne CBD is $60 for 1 hour or $110 for 2 hours. Please note that these places require proof of a vaccination certificate to be able to enter. If you do not have one yet, Nanako recommends Skype lessons. Nanako highly recommends Skype lessons instead of in-person lessons due to the current world-wide pandemic and expected new variants.
